The Origin Of COVID-19
A respiratory infection, caused by a β-coronavirus genera (SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19) spread throughout the Wuhan territory of China and received worldwide attention by January 2020. The World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 as a worldwide public health emergency by 30th January 2020.
Though COVID-19 spread through a seafood market in Wuhan province of China, epidemiologists are having a hard time to deduce as to how COVID-19 found its way to the market. Health professionals are hypothesizing that there was an intermediate host between Bats and Humans. Though the identity of that intermediate host remains a mystery.
As the situation proceeds, everything is getting more mysterious as more problems spring up in front of doctors and health experts. In this situation the best an individual can do is to stay sanitized and stay at home to avoid getting an infection because of COVID-19.
COVID-19 marks the 3rd coming of a severe respiratory tract viral infection under the Coronaviridae genus after the epidemic of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome or SARS in 2002 and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome or MERS in 2012. This virus is highly pathogenic and contagious as compared to the other two.
As of 25th March, 2020 more than 4 lakhs/0.4 million cases were recorded worldwide and about 4 percent of these cases have been declared dead with the death toll going uphill.
Overall, COVID-19 is very contagious. Severe if the infected person has a weak immune system.
